My artistic journey began
when we purchased our first home. It was a
latent start, I was almost thirty, but once I discovered painting, I
fell in love and ....I had a LOT of catching up to do! I began to
experiment with stenciling and decorative wall treatments, and then by
word-of-mouth, others asked me to paint in their homes. My small
one-person faux finishing/mural business was open on the weekends, or
whenever I could fit it in around my family's schedule. When the boys
went to traditional school, I was asked to head the faux/decorative art
department at a custom home builder. There, I was commissioned to paint
many beautiful homes. Since moving to a
new state eight years ago, I now stay home and paint on paper
and
canvas.Watercolor and acrylic are my favorite mediums. I also enjoy creating with paperclay and fabric; occasionally making dolls. My painting style encompasses a wide variety of "Folk Art". I have a passion for early American folk art and am honored to have been chosen for Early American Life's Artisan Directory 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 for watercolor and painted silhouettes. My work has been featured in Early American Life, and PRIMS magazines.
On the lighter side, I enjoy painting vintage and "cottage-style" paintings, and have recently started a new venture in children's illustration. : Lilly Dew Designs~ (The site you are currently reading).
My enjoyment comes from not only creating, but from creating pieces that others enjoy. I've met some wonderful friends, customers and inspirational people via the internet who continue to inspire, challenge and support my art.
